It's difficult to say whether it would break out again. Some people stop and it stays away for long periods...whereas others reduce the dose and the psoriasis returns, unfortunately we are all different and react differently .... But it's well worth a try, your hair should return when you reduce or stop I would think.
If it does flare up again, you will still have the option to increase the dose again.

I wish you luck and hope reducing to 10mg will be enough to allow your hair to recover Thumb
Jim

You're welcome
I understand that it is quite a common side effect and it might not stop until you change the medication
As soon as acetretin is out of your system your hair will return according to the literature I've read. And on the dose you are on around 12% of patients get alopecia.
It's worth asking your dermatologist if you can change to otezla or even my treatment Fumaderm which has kept me clear over 4 years after a lifetime of misery with trying to control the disease

Hi Linda,

You can find a lot of information on DMF, the working ingredient of Fumaderm, in this thread Dimethylfumarates and Psoriasis.

Cheers,
Caroline

Happy to tell more  Big Grin  it's a brilliant drug if you can tolerate the side effects at the start ...they usually don't last long and if you can bear the discomfort of possible stomach cramps and flushing, you have a 70% chance of getting clearance. I have been on it over 4 years and have enjoyed clear skin and able to live a flake free life Smile it's been in use in Germany over 30 years and a similar one called Psorinovo is available in Holland.
Bill on here uses the raw material DMF in Australia as the tablets are not available there .....
There is a lot of information on here about it  check out this thread Fumaderm and ask any questions you have  Thumb

I've changed the subject from "Acitretin" to "Acitretin and hair loss" as it may get you better answers.

I'll also move this thread to Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis
