Hi mehwish welcome  Welcome  to the club, you will find a lot of information on all types of psoriasis Types Of Psoriasis Explained

And yes it's a nasty form of psoriasis that's right but it seems as if your dermatologist is treating it right with methotrexate it's one of the recognised treatments
But if it doesn't work there are other systemic treatments like acetretin they can give you.
But give the methotrexate time to work and it should clear it up

This is the same reply I did earlier mehwish and have written it again so your other one can be removed later

Hello Mehwish,

Welcome to psoriasisclub.

I understand your distress, but remember we are not doctors, we are sufferers like you. So the dermatologist is the important factor you need to keep consulting.

In the mean time you can search on the Internet on "erythroderma psoriasis", that is what I did and my conclusion out of it is that (but remember I am no doctor!!!) that it is a sudden outbreak of normal psoriasis.
The special thing is that it is sudden, which on the Internet it is suggested that there perhaps is an inflammation source in your body that has triggered it. So reseach in your blood should aim for something extra.
The Internet/some dermatologists talk about the signalling of skin failure, but as psoriasis is an auto immune disease, the problem is somewhere else it is certainly not on the skin. Allthough the skin can be a trigger source if damaged by some cause.

So your doctor has to search for something inflammatory in your body.
What to do in the mean time. What I found on the Internet and what seems to be smart is the following:
  • Topical tar therapy and phototherapy should be avoided in the early phases of treatment.
  • Retinoids have also been reported to induce this condition
  • Corticosteroid treatment is tricky: subsequent withdrawal may worsen the clinical state but, sometimes, this is the only effective treatment for the acute episode.
  • Ciclosporin and infliximab are the most rapid-acting agents, with acitretin and methotrexate the slower-acting first-line choices. My comment to this: "try to avoid cyclosporine. Infliximab is a biological and may work quickly, but other biologicals may also work like stelara and cosentyx. Acetretin may be ok, but has disadvantages, MTX (to my opinion is poison, you are too young to use this very long), long term you could also go for Fumaderm which is quite less bad for your body"
  • Combination therapy may be more effective but this remains unproven. In the Netherlands we have good results mentioned with a combination of DMF and biologicals, reported by the leading dermatologist of the Netherlands dr. P. Van de Kerkhof.
  • Effective treatment with golimumab, a human monoclonal antibody, has been reported but further research is required.

Unfortunately psoriasis is an auto immune disease and has a number of comorbidities. There is nothing we can change to that. It is possible to fight psoriasis and reduce it.
You are young, I think you don't have to panic because of these comorbidities, if you together with your derm can reduce the inflammations, you should be fine.

Hope I was a bit of help.
That is the purpose of this forum. Think along with you, generate possibilities, share common problems, but also to support each other.

Cheers,
Caroline

I can understand your distress but this disease is controllable, there is no cure for psoriasis, so don't believe anyone that tells you there is...there are many good treatments to control the disease, but it is trial and error to find the one that suits you.

You could try to modify your diet that might help

See these threads they might give you some ideas

These are natural methods that might improve you skin

Hope you get some relief soon Thumb

Welcome!

My psoriasis started a couple of years ago and was mainly on my ears. I showed them to two doctors who both diagnosed me with dermatitis and gave me steroid creams. Finally after it was only getting worse, I was referred to a dermatologist who diagnosed me with erythrodermic psoriasis. I admit to a lot of confusion over the different types, but my understanding is that erythrodermic can occur with poorly managed psoriasis (with me going 2 years without treatment I think was the cause) or an infection.

I hope the medicines start to work for you soon, if not I would contact your doctor as it's not something you want to let go.

erythrodermic Psoriasis is a rare form of the disease. While it can happen as a rebound effect to medications or other stuff, it's typically genetic. As far as medications go,  MTX or Cyclosporine is typically given.  The typical dose of MTX is 15 MG. MTX takes up to 4 months to show any meaningful results. Well, I hope thing gets better.

Hi, sorry to hear you are feeling so bad.
I had erythroderma in 2012, (well, that's what I was told, though I don't think I was 90% covered as it says for erythroderma on the Internet) I was shivering and burning up like I had the 'flu. I couldn't sleep for the itching/ burning, and my psoriasis was very hot and red. Here's a picture of my side
[Image: 20511663360_1f4e7e2e88_o_d.jpg]

After about two weeks I was put on prednisolone (steroid) tablets and it worked almost instantly. After, I went on to methotrexate and I haven't had erythroderma since then. So, don't panic, there are things that the doctors can do if you really need them.

I hope you are sorted out soon, it must be hard with a young baby too..

Hello Mehwish Welcome to Psoriasis Club

I see the others are answering so I don't have much to add. Though I will say "There is no cure" it's all about management and it can take time to find the right thing that will work for you.

Regards.

Fred.
