Meds and uvb

Ive just started uvb treatment does anyone know if its safe to take certain medications, like antihistamines and ive been prescribed a period delay tablet im due to take today but just not sure i dont see the nurse till fri, any advise would be great thanks

Hi Gill and   to the club you will find lots of information on here about all the available treatments and if you can't find an answer I'm sure someone will know.
I know it's ok with UVA treatment to reduce the itch but I'm not sure about UVB but I think it would be ok but I would phone your local pharmacy they will know for certain,

Or someone here may have the answer , but I think the main things to avoid while on uv treatment are any vitamin D derived drugs ...but a phone call to the pharmacy should give you an answer

I don't remember hearing of much to avoid with UVB.

I think you should avoid to much sunlight, and like Jim said maybe Vit D. But I know no more than that and don't recall any posts that would help.

Maybe others will know more, but my guess is that you would be fine.

I've read that antihistamines can increase sensitivity to the sun. I know that most drugs in the US are marked on the prescription bottle if you need to use caution.

I was on Acitretin which had the label to avoid sunlight while I was on UV treatments per doctor's instruction. It's best to ask the doctor or a nurse to be on the safe side.

Hi  Gill    and a warm welcome to the club. I've had 2 lots of UVB and took the odd non drowsy antihistamine at night to temper the itching and didn't create any problems for me. But as you will quickly learn on here we are all very different in how we tolerate drugs and how this disease manifests itself. Its good advice to have a chat with the pharmacy   .

Oh by the way if anyone tries to tell you they are the sane one, they are kind of being economical with the truth   . Enjoy your stay
