Hi All,

New to the forum - I hope this is in the right place! P sufferer all my life. I am 25 now with P covering my torso, back legs and arms.

I have recently been approved to start Cosentyx (Secukinumab) targets the protein interleukin 17A).  Has anyone been on this before and how did you find it?

I was previously on Humira, so used to injecting but unfortunately although it worked wonders on my skin, it also made eradicated all my taste and smell. A whole year went by before I had enough! My previous treatments included, MTX, Clyclosporin, UVB plus all number of creams and lotions.

look forward to chatting with you all,

Alex

Hi Alex and a warm welcome to the club, I have never been on Cosentyx but will be happy to hear how it works for you .... It has had some great write ups, we have a few members on it now and if you put Cosentyx in the search button above it should show you all threads where it is mentioned

I see you have been through the regular route of creams and oral treatment before getting to biological treatment ( I haven't got that far yet I'm still on oral Fumaderm)

I hope you enjoy your time here as we are a great support group helping each other through the ups and downs of this awful disease.
We also have an active off topic section if you want to chat away from psoriasis or to just read the jokes

What I'm trying to say is you are among a group of friendly sufferers who will make you feel comfortable and welcome if you want to post anywhere on the forum

Just make yourself at home and if you need assistance just shout and someone will jump in and help you

Jim

Thanks for your kind words Jim.  I am lucky enough to have a very understanding Derm and the lovely NHS to help me fund and battle through P's.  I have just discovered the search function too  Wave so i'll read and comment where I can.  I'll read up on Fumaderm too as this is something I have never come across before.  I'd be happy to advise on MTX and Cyclo where possible too.

First shot of Cosentyx this week. I am a little nervous as it's a fairly new drug on the market but optimistic all the same.  - i'll be sure to post updates on progress.

Best wishes

Thanks Alex good luck with the first shot. Comments are always warmly received and I'm sure your input on ciclosporine and methotrexate will be invaluable as personal experiences are what sufferers want to hear about...far better than the 10 minute appointment at the hospital  Thumb

Hello Alex  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

Like Jim said you will find a lot of threads about Cosentyx, so please feel free to comment on them if you wish.

Yes you are in the right place. But I hope you don't mind, I have made an edit to your Subject line as we have a lot of Cosentyx and it will help with future searches. I have changed your subject to " Recently been approved for Cosentyx" If you would prefer it called something else please let me know.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi All,

Had the first nurse visit and first 2 injections (150mg x2) - Now it is once a week loading doses for another 4 weeks then monthly after that.  I have high hope for this drug as i usually respond well to Bios.

The pen style injection is much nicer and less painful than the syringe I was using previously for my Humira.   I am also hoping i'll be able to maintain my smell and taste with the Cosentyx too. Fingers crossed!

I'll keep you updated on clearance, although my skin isn't as bad as it usually would be due to some sun exposure and temporary steroid creams I had to get me though the transition from Humira to Cos.

Speak soon,

Alex

Good news Alex. I was due to go on it this week but the funding isn't in place yet.

Can I ask why you said "maintain my smell and taste" ?
