Hi everyone, although I have had P for several year, this is the first time I began searching for support forums like this one and I am glad I did. Smile  My P has been pretty bad for a long time now and I have been trying to stay away from biologics but decided to try them about 5 months ago. My Dr put me on Humira and after 4 months, not only did I not improve, I got much worse. Yesterday Morning I took my first shots of Taltz. You may think I'm crazy or am seeing thing due to my desire to get clear, but I swear I can already see a change in the way my patches look. Anyways, I hope to make some new friends here and be helped by, and help others.

Hi SoFlo and a big  Welcome to the forum, I'm glad you have found us and I don't think you will find a better support group anywhere , we are all just sufferers of this awful disease here and we happily share information about treatments and what works..

You say Humira was not good for you so you have just started Taltz.....I have read some great things about Taltz, and have heard that it can work quickly , so it might be working and not just your imagination
See about the phase three trials where they noted an improvement within a week
See the link
Lilly's Ixekizumab phase 3

I wish you continued success and look forward to hearing how well it continues to work for you

Enjoy yourself on the forum and should you need any help just shout out anywhere and someone will be happy to help

Thanks Jim. I too have heard great things about Taltz and am very optamistic about this treatment. Just a bit of info for those of you that are not finding success with your current treatment, look into Taltz. Although it was just approved by the FDA less than 2 months ago, my insurance is covering it and Taltz has a copay card that brought my copay to just $5.00

Wow that's great news,  I'm not sure if we have got approval in England where I am but I think that Europe has given it approval
I'm sure many if our American members are paying way over that for other bios... So thanks for that information

I do hope you will update us with a Taltz  thread as the only other one I've seen was a member here on the phase 3 trial for it

If you put taltz in the search button at the top of the page it will throw up some interesting stuff about Talz for you to read .

See Ixekizumab trial

Ixekizumab shows significant improvement for psoriasis patients

Ixekizumab meets it's goals in Phase 3 for psoriatic arthritis.

I have never heard of Taltz is it an injection or pill form.I am on Enbrel 50mg sure click shot and it is $4500 for four shots a month.I have to put out $3000 then my insurance will cover some. Before I turned 65 I had help but Medicare doesn't cover Biologic's I thought when I got older it would get better heck no.The company won't help me cause I am on Medicare and have Champ Va for my secondary insurance.I will ask around about Taltz and see what it costs here in Pennsylvania.Seems like I fall thru the cracks and our income is over what they allow! Whistle

Hello SoFlo  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

Yes Taltz is getting a lot of good reviews. Humira was bad for me too but Taltz works in a different way so you should be fine.

Please do start your own thread in Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis if you wish and update it as you go on your journey with Taltz. It's a good way of having something to look back on and your information could help others.

Regards.

Fred.

@Glenda Yes Taltz is an injection the same as your Enbrel, you can read more about it and the different types of Bio (injection) treatments here: Biological Treatments For Psoriasis

Welcome SoFlo , I have only heard of Talz in passing and I don't a lot about it as I am sure that it's not used in UK at the moment but I will follow your progress with interest.
You can ask any questions on here SF and the inmates will answer truthfully from personal experience and there is more information on here than anywhere else I know.
Take care and I hope you keep progressing well.

Glenda, Taltz is an injectable you take one a month after initial dosing. It is a new biologic that was just approved by the FDA about 2 months ago. Taltz has a program for those who's insurance won't pay for it. They will provide the meds for 2 years and it's only about $35.00 a month. You should take to your Dr.
