Hello! I'm Loreta from Philippines and I'm newly diagnosed with psoriasis last March 26, a month after my 16th birthday. See, I'm very active in school and hearing my doctor say that I should "avoid stress" is probably my killer. I love school and all activities. Yet, it's the cause of my problems.

On another note, I'm new to this illness and I'm getting tired of it. It hurts sometimes and my scalp itches like hell and my nails are starting to be detached from my fingers. It's hard for me to process these things considering that I'm very young and this was very unexpected as we were only eyeing for eczema.

But, don't get me wrong. Life is still beautiful!!!

Hi Loreta and  Welcome to the forum yes you are young to have the burden of this disease, I was 17 when I first got psoriasis and have suffered with it most of my life, But Loreta the good news is there are so many advances in the drugs to treat this now that it should be possible for you to get clear or virtually clear if you can get a good treatment plan,

I don't know what the health care is like in the Philippines but hopefully you will get to see a dermatologist who can offer you either creams, or tablets to begin with to try to get it under control.

Do come back later when more members have had a chance to read your introduction and may have other advice for you

Thanks for joining and I hope you enjoy being with us. Just shout if you have any problem finding things on here .

And I agree life is beautiful Thumb
Jim

Welcome Loreta! I hate the itchy scalp, mine still drives me crazy at times. 16 is a tough age to have to deal with psoriasis, but I love your outlook as life is indeed beautiful.

I hope you've found a good dermatologist. As Jim has already said they can help you get it under control.

We're a friendly group here, very supportive and willing to answer questions or just listen. Smile

Hello Loreta Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

Not a nice Birthday present you got there. You are correct Stress does have a huge effect on psoriasis so you will have to learn to keep using your phrase "Life is still beautiful" and try to avoid stressful situations as much as possible.

Like the others said I would get yourself referred to a dermatologist, there are things out there that can help you manage it and a registered dermatologist is the way to go.

As for your scalp you could try soothing it with Coconut Oil

Regards.

Fred.
