I would never have said that I was the brainiest person, but PHEW, trying to get onto this forum is a job of its own.

Yes you are doing it right. I have just answered your other thread Newbie Fiftyplus but I will try to answer your concerns here and move this thread to help.

Yes it is difficult to register if that is what you meant by "trying to get onto this forum is a job of its own" we have made it difficult deliberately because we used to get so many spammers and trolls joining just to try and sell us something or cause disruption.

I appreciate some may find it difficult to join, but there is a tutorial on the right hand side on the registration page along with the words  "Should you still be experiencing any problems with you registration please click the words "Contact Us" at the bottom left hand side of the page and someone will get back to you as soon as possible."

We want all genuine people to be able to get in, but we have to make it difficult to keep the unwanted ones out.

I'm sorry you found it difficult, but you are here now which is good.  Smile

Should you need any further help you can try here:

Or just shout out anywhere and someone will soon dive in to help you settle in.

Good plan, I can't recall if it was difficult getting registered or not! Maybe Fred introduced that after I got in and I am one of the undesirables!

Anyway Fiftyplus, really glad you made it, I know it will be worthwhile for you.

No all undesirables are shown the door pretty damn quick  Rules

It's been the same registration process for a few years now, but I did add the following sometime last year.

Quote:
We know it's a bit of a long registration process but we make it difficult deliberately.
It's all about protecting our members and keeping a safe spam free environment.
Once you are registered you will receive a warm welcome, unless you've come here to spam.

We try to make the registration process as easy as we can, and we appreciate some people may find it difficult. But please be assured we will work with any genuine person trying to join who is experiencing problems, so please take a moment to read this part if you are having problems with registration.

These steps are in place to protect the forum and it's members from spammers and scammers, no genuine person has anything to worry about.

Left Hand Side:

Account Details: All parts need an answer.

Required Information: All parts need an answer.

Optional Information: You don't need to answer, but it may help others answer your questions.

Image Verification: You need to solve the question. (Yes we know it's annoying, but it's needed)

Security Question: You need to answer this, it is there to stop bots from registering.

Right hand side:

Account Preferences: You can change your preferences now or wait till later.

Time Zone: You can choose now or wait till later.

We pride ourselves of being fully independent and you will never see advertisements or sponsors, and you will never be asked for donations. We are just people with psoriasis sharing information and support, we throw out spammers, trolls and bullies without question.

Should you still be experiencing any problems with you registration please click the words "Contact Us" at the bottom left hand side of the page and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

But yes Fifty got here, and any new member wanting to register is welcome to contact us for help.

I don't recall it being very difficult, honestly (hence agreeing with Pingu's joke about must have been an undesirable Tongue )

It's easier than some sites, a bit more difficult than others but either way I prefer having it be the way it is than having to deal with spammers coming through the door constantly (like it usually is on those "easy" sites)
