Good afternoon Guys,

To get straight to it I think my condition has worsened.  I have a number small patches over my body.  I have seen my doctor and he has finally sent me to the dermo.  Thing is when i made the appointment, I was thinking that I will ask for the new bio drugs or Fumaderm that has been pointed out to me on here.  Since then i have had another problem with my feet which i believed was a running issue.  Plantar Fascitis.    This has been going on for about 10 weeks now and until this morning i had not connected the dots.  When I am making a fist I have a tightness and pain on on knuckle and on the surrounding area.   This has been going on for a few weeks and I am convinced it must be arthritis as my fist dermo guy mentioned this was a likelihood as I have it in on my finger and toe nails.

So mentally I have been prepared for this so I am fine about it, you get the hand yer dealt I guess.  My question is though, if this is likely arthritis in my feet and hands, will this elevate my chances of being proscribed fumaderm or Cosentyx or will it take my treatment down a different path?

P.S my dermo appointment is late Feb. There is a huge waiting list.  I have been clawing it back by logging in and picking up cancelled appointments and have pulled a month back so far!

Thanks in advance Guys!

Personally I think it may well delay getting anything for your psoriasis as your dermatologist is likely to refer you on to a rheumatologist,  and possibly won't want to start you on anything until you have a diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis or another arthritis.

Fumaderm is not approved for psoriatic arthritis in the uk ... So you will shut the door on that
Fumaderm will control PSA and psoriasis but it won't be prescribed if you suspect arthritis

I'm not sure about Cosentyx perhaps someone else will know

It may well take your treatment down the methotrexate route or hopefully a biological

Hope you will get other advice
But I wish you good luck and hope it's not arthritis

Sorry I suspect PSA I keep thinking they are the same thing.  Apparently when reading wiki Plantar Fascitis is a common side effect of PSA and im guessing that is likely with my knuckle too.

Cheers Jim!

To be honest I wouldn't jump to the conclusion of psoriatic arthritis, if it is Plantar Fascitis it may well pass with rest of the foot, as it is known with runners and by the time of your appointment may well be better

Sometimes I think medical conditions are more related than even the doctors know. It's possible that it's psoriatic arthritis, but just as possible it's rheumatoid or osteo and it could be none of those but something else entirely. But, it will take a diagnosis before you'll know for certain and that could affect the route your doctors want to go.

Waiting till February is a pain, but glad that you're set up to get in and find out for sure what is going on. Although as Jim said, you might end up being referred to yet another doctor but that's just how it can go. Wishing you the best!
