So is it that the sun needs to hit the actual patches of P, I thought it was just for general vit d levels..
I have been in the sun but clothed. I have to be careful as I burn quite easily..

I think it is a combination of the two. Vitamin D is suppose to help as is direct sunlight (much like the UV treatments) however, it is NOT good to burn. The doctor said to try to expose the areas to about 15 minutes of sunshine per day in my case. I also take Vit D supplements but since I have been on those for years it was prior to me having psoriasis so I don't know if it helps any with the psoriasis or not.

I'm fair skinned yet tan fairly easily but if I'm out around the pool or doing yard work, I wear sunscreen. As Jim said though the sunshine (and fresh air) can be good for morale so I plan to keep getting a small amount of sun when I can. It doesn't hurt to try!

I looked into it too a few years ago:

Vitamin D the natural way.
