Hi everyone,
new to the forum and hoping to hear some positive stories about how you manage to look after your skin.
im trying a special diet at the moment and hoping it will help me heal...
i have also started an e-petition as psoriasis can be a debilitating condition and believe we need more support. Feel free to read it and sign it if you wish
*Old link removed as it's not secure
kind regards
pina

Hello Pina Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

I made a change to the website address as it was bunched up, will now be ok with copy and paste.

Good luck with your petition, and well done for trying. But I wouldn't hold out to much hope! I've never heard of any reaching parliament. If you look at the Cancer Search you will see not many of them have made it, and your petition needs 100,000 signatures, before it could be debated in the House of Commons. Bit of a way for the Government to keep people of their backs if you ask me. Thumbsdown

Sorry didn't want to put you off but I'm ever the pessimist, especially where politicians are concerned. But you should never give up on your mission. Wink

Regards.

Fred.

Hello Fred

I totally agree with you, but I have to try!! And you never know, we may reach 100,000!! (did you sign it? Wink

Thank you for welcoming me to the forum, this condition can make you feel quite 'different' and lonely so glad there is a friendly forum out there...

I had psoriasis since I was a teenager and only more recently am able to wear my hair up for example and not be too self-conscious about the dry skin behind my ears....i notice so many people tend to stare especially in the lifts NoNo Big Grin

anyway, i look forward to being part of a group that understands the difficulties Clap

thank you Wave

You're welcome I hope you enjoy the forum and look forward to your posts, I'm often in the [Group Specific] section. Just look out for the sensible one, that will be me. Rolleyes

No sorry, I didn't sign it as I live in France and although I probably could, I don't think it's fair for people in other countries to have a vote on UK issues.

But you go for it Girl and shout it from the rooftops it all helps in the end.

Hello Pina,

Welcome to the Forum.
I hope you will have a nice time over here, have nice discussions and have some fun as that is what keeps us upright many times.
We are quite a nice bunch. There are lovely people over here.
Beware of the "Off Topic" section, there are some awkward types over there, nothing seems to be what it is...

Btw, if you have problems with people staring at you in the lifts, you can also take the stairs....

i was reading that nightshade family (especially potatoes) and possibly yeast and candida can make skin flare up..Sad

Oh Well Pina.... the diet that belongs to my treatment, and is also quite common, is the following:

Nutrition to Avoid:
Spices:

pepper, nutmeg, cloves, mostard, caraway, anis, cinnamon, paprika powder and everything made with these such as readymade spices, sausages, paté, tinned soups, dried soups, bouillon cubes, curries, sauces, mayonnaise etc.
Nuts:
all sorts of roasted nuts because these are roasted in peanut (arachide) oil. Cashew nuts, pistachio nuts, peanuts and so forth. Also no peanut butter, peanut sauce and peanut oil for salad.
Fruit:
skins, zest and peels of citrus, and ready-made juices of citrus fruits and liquors of which these are an ingredient.
Wine:
all sorts
Spirits:
brandywine, cognac, armagnac, champagne, sekt, samos, vermouth, sherry, malaga, port and orange liquor.
Be free to use:
Spices:
garlic, parsley, onions, fresh garden spices, saffron.
Oils:
olive oil, corn oil, soybean oil, flaxseed, sunflower oils, fruit vinegar
Nuts:
coconut, hazelnuts, walnuts and almonds.
Spirits:
beer, whiskey, gin, rum, genever
Condiments:
pickles without pepper and cocktail pickles. All other foodstuffs are allowed.

Not that I follow it, but some people do have results from it.

Now... that is a difficult question Pina. I do not want to be impolite to you, I surely think that your initiative is very good, So at least I retweeted it.
But on the other side I personally do not feel disabled (Fred: keep quiet !), so I think that your idea of putting the people with psoriasis on the disabled side is quite harsh.
Though I must agree that there are severe cases of Psoriasis and AP (Fred: PsA).

Equal to Fred, I am not living in the UK, so my vote basically would not be right. But I think certainly a number of friends on the forum will sign your petition.

Caroline

Hi Pina!
I'm not sure I see myself as disabled but there are some folks who are very debilitated by psoriasis. However as an obliging British citizen I have signed the petition - any thing to help!
Good luck with the campaign
Lady B
