I have discovered that a head on approach to Psoriasis can be a very good thing, when it comes to other people's views on the condition.
When I was on holiday in Turkey last year, my condition was not at it's worse, but was still quite visinle to other's.
My angle on this was to tell them about my condition, before they started the staring, and drawing their own conclusions.
I would show them my skin and give them a brief description of what Psoriasis was about and the treatment I was getting.
I would also explain that it is not contagious, quite often this would prompt some quetions from them and they would also come forth with other people they knew with the condition.
So now, I always take the head on approach, this also gets them to ask me how I am getting on with treatment.
It's an approach that not all of us will feel comfortable with, but for me, it helps with my confidence and can also give me another topic of conversation when people are asking me about it, instead of making their own judgements.
At least then they are in the know and don't feel awkward about asking me any questions.

That is a good way to deal with it.But sometimes the folks here are just ignorant b@stards and never give one the chance. I am so very sick of people behind me in the grocery line talking to each other like I can not hear them and saying things like "OH my gawd look at her hands" or "EWWW her skinn is gross!".
I am learning how just not to care anymore what folks say...
I think it comes with age.

It's people like this with a lack of education, born of ignorance, who have nothing better to do than gossip about something they know nothing about.
When I come across people like this, I just wish I could inflict the Psoriasis on them, just so I could say, "Now see how you like it".
I do tend to get very annoyed in a situation like that, but then I like to confront people if I hear them making remarks, I also like to make a point of telling them how rude, ignorant and un-educated they are.
Ah well, just my logic I suppose.
Anyway, keep your confidence up and Sod the lot of them!!!!!!

I wish I wasn't so timid sometimes.

I am ordering the leaflets now for the local schools.If anything maybe I can help educate the next generation.
