Hi everyone, I have a question if ye wouldn't mind helpin me out.
Started stelara 3 weeks ago and doing brilliant on it with very few side effects. I have caught the rotavirus from my kiddies who have been sick for a week. Will this take longer to clear up with me because I'm on Stelara? Is this something I need to contact my dermatologist about?
Thanks for any info

It shouldn't take any longer than usual, but it still may be worth just keeping your dermatologist in the loop. I take it as your children have it then they haven't recently had the vaccine against it, this is good as you should try to avoid (Live Vaccines) Rotavirus vaccine is a live vaccine I think.

Obviously you will want to up your water intake, I would say keep an eye on things. But if your able to contact your dermatologist, give them a call just to let them know.

Good luck.

You're welcome, but remember it's just my personal opinion. None of us doctors, so although we do give what we consider good advice it's your choice at the end of the day.

You're certainly going to be busy in your household.  Rolleyes

I agree tell your dermatologist as Stelara does lower your resistance and when you have been on it a while you will be able to tell if you are more prone to picking things up as everyone is different. I have been on Stelara for a couple of years now and it's fantastic but I only started to clear after my second injection at four weeks so if you are already clearing you are doing very well indeed.

Sorry to hear that. Kids bring everything home with them from school. Rotavirus spreads rapidly. Washing hands is helpful.

Having an immunocompromised household contact is not usually a reason for delaying routine vaccination for others in the household. Rotavirus vaccine should be administered to susceptible household contacts and other close contacts of immunocompromised Family members. All members of the household should wash their hands as a precaution especially when small children are around.
Check with the CDC For more info.

HOPE YOUR BETTER SOON.

Hello Quest the reason I mentioned not having the Vaccination was because bzybee was on Stelara and as the Rotavirus vaccine is a live vaccine, I believe it's advised not to use it whilst on Stelara.

Just wanted to clear that up as she no longer has Stelara in her profile.
