I have been contacted by someone saying they have changed their Email address and can't use the information here Lost Password/Username to retrieve a new password that they have also forgotten.

Now I now this is frustrating and I'm willing to work with any member to help them get logged back in, but in the case of both a forgotten password and an Email that no longer exists or cant be remembered then it makes things a bit more difficult.

#1 You have forgotten your password.
#2 You have changed your Email address.
#3 You only have your Username.

(1) You can only get a new password by following the information in the thread linked above, or in extreme circumstances I can issue a temporary one for you.
(2) To issue a temporary password I would like to know what the old email address was as it will still be in the database, you are unable to remember your old Email address.
(3) If a member has made a post in the public boards their username is displayed, so anyone in the world would be able to give that information.

So where do we go from here?

As you cant remember your old Email address I need to know some more information before issuing a new password and opening your account for you.

OK I've asked some questions about the account and you're not giving me enough answers to prove that you are indeed the owner of that username, I have tried to work with you to get you back on-line but you have failed to convince me. So all I can suggest is that you either re-register or come back to me with some good information to prove you are who you say you are.

Moral of the story: Please try to keep your log-in details in a safe place, and should you change your Email address I suggest you log-in to your account and change it or let me know so I can do it for you.

*I will never open any account unless you give me enough information to prove you own it, yes I know it's frustrating but sometimes it could be just one simple question that solves it.
(But in the case mentioned here I suspect this is someone trying to use and old account for spamming as they could not get by the registration process) Should I be wrong I apologise, but until you prove me wrong the apology is not forthcoming.

Fred.

I agree you can't go giving out new passwords if the member can't remember any detail apart from what he has gleaned from the open health boards... It could be a devious way for anyone to get onsite for whatever reason.
If the request is genuine they would know their old email address I would think
So just thought I would say Bravo you have done the right thing in my opinion

Thank you Jim it's nice to know some agree, I make these decisions on my own judgement and sometimes my decisions are not always popular.  Rolleyes

I have given this member enough chances to talk with me, so there is nothing else I can do.
