No they won't prescribe it, I get mine from Amazon UK

Is suitable to fry my chips in it. It takes me back a bit does Coconut oil I can remember all the mess from that though it is good stuff.

Yes that's about right. Biona Organic Raw Virgin Coconut Oil 800 g on Amazon UK £14:45 and free delivery.

It's a big pot I get through 1 - 2 per year.

And NO not all Coconut Oil is the same, the cheaper ones a rubbish and not worth the money in my opinion.

Yes you can have it on toast and cook with it or eat it raw, but I just use it as a moisturiser for my skin.
