So exactly one week on acitretin and I am not sure that this should be working as quick as it is, but it is! I have hands with nearly normal skin! My legs, arms and back are no longer scaly but flat. My head has stopped itching! It is incredible!

Not all treatments work the same for everyone, but when you do find one that works like this I would say continue and enjoy.

I don't know about Acitretin but psoriasis itself can make one feel very tired at times. Again it doesn't effect everyone, but I have and still do get very tired moments.

That's the way to be. If you feel good then that is the best medicine for psoriasis.

Not that it will mean much to the guys on here but I have actually been able to shave my legs for the first time this year!

You want to try using the Mens room after Jim has been in there on a Friday night.  Whistle

Enjoy the break from psoriasis and your book & chocolate.  Smile

Hi all

Hope this works, I have tried to insert pic of my hand, which on day 8 of acitretin. Is completely normal!

A week ago the same hand was thick with psoriasis and I was having to wear cotton gloves 24/7.

Hi there
Well failed miserably at inserting photo but never mind.

Update on acitretin: so the good news is my skin has continued to improve, legs and arms beginning to clear and I couldn't be happier.

Bad news is, that as of today I have been told to stop taking it for a week. I have been experiencing severe muscle pain, extreme fatigue and rotten, rotten headaches and apparently I look ill! I actually wanted to continue to see if I just get used to it but was told no! Anyway off for a week, they will reassess next week and perhaps lower the dose or make it alternative days. Also bloods were fine but had raised my cholesterol to 7.

They have told me it will continue to work as it is in my system so not to worry psoriasis will not bounce back in a week.

However I remain positive and am hoping I will be able to go back on next week.

So I have a week off work as I really do feel yuk, but remember yuk with normal hands, near normal arms and everywhere else flat not scaly yehhhhh! So I am going to have a week doing nothing except reading books and drinking tea!

Oh and my poor dog got bit and had to have an op and stitches so he is cuddling up with me and my books. Unfortunately it was his own doing, he's old, a little senile, bit deaf and has cataracts , because of that he thought another dog was going for him as he didn't see it going past until the last minute, got a fright, barked and frightened the other dog who just snapped, big teeth, resulted in several stiches near his eye.
Eh well hope you are all doing well.
Speak soon
Sandra

Great it's working and you are happy with your skin ... What a shame you feel so ill with muscle pain, and headaches. I hope the week off will allow them to subside and when you restart the illness will stay away.

The other good thing is your bloods are good .....if your cholesterol keeps going up surely they will give you tablets to get it down.

Your poor old dog I bet he feels as bad as you do .
I hope you both improve fast and thanks for the update I hope the psoriasis continues to improve and look forward to you getting the hang of putting photos on here ?

Good to hear you are going strong Sandra.
Sorry for the unexpected yuk you are experiencing.

Let's wait and see how it is within a week and perhaps how it is going with a lower dose.

Hi Caroline
Yes, I remain hopeful as I was coping, I think it was the headaches that concerned them more than anything as I do not and never have suffered with headaches. The headaches are like something is squeezing and I suppose how people describe migraine.
However it may be I have picked up a virus or something and nothing to do with acitretin.
They seemed fairly confident that an adjustment of the dose might resolve the problem, as I have responded so quickly a low dose may suffice.
I really hope so as I was so reluctant to try drugs and now I have seen the result I don't want to give it up!
Anyway I shall post again next week and let you all know what the next step is.
