Ok folks after a really bad flare over the last few weeks, I've decided to forego the natural remedy route for now and give the Acitrecin and topical steroids a try. I found a nifty back applicator at the pharmacy so I can apply the steroid cream all over. Oh I'm just going to lube myself up and have a party! I'm going to be diligent about sticking with the routine and see if there is any progress in a month when I go back to the Derm. I'm hoping I will tolerate the Acitrecin as I cannot go on biologics because of my cancer history. My Dr. did tell me I could go on methotrexate and wanted to put me on that because he said it would work faster than the Acitrecin but my cancer Dr. says it's poison and to stay away. I know many here have had good luck with Methotrexate and if Acitrecin doesn't work, I'll have to give it a try. Dr. thinks I have about 70% coverage btwn my scalp, face, torso, arms and legs and said he rarely has seen a case spread so fast and be so acute. Lucky me. Also taking Atarax for the itch. I wish I didn't have to deal with any of this and it would just go away on it's own but I know that's not going to happen.

I'll post on the natural remedies board about my experience with Functional Medicine Dr. I had last week.

Kelly I'm glad you are going down the conventional route I hope you don't have any bad side effects from the acetretin. I will keep my fingers crossed.
Hoping for your sake that it works for you. When it's under control if you have the will I feel that would be a good time to take up the natural route to give lasting clearance.
Try to avoid the methotrexate although it would be understandable to go there if acetretin does not work.

Take my advice; I don't use it anyway.

Kelly, I hope this works for you. I'm on Acitretin and so far, no side effects and it seems to be helping.

Keep us posted!

Just finished buttering up my torso arms and legs w steroid cream and cling wrap. I don't know how I will ever fall asleep. The cling wrap is sliding all over the place. And I'm supposed to do this twice a day? How do I go to work like this? I can't possibly wear regular clothes over this cream without occlusion and the cling wrap is a mess. Maybe if I had someone else to wrap me up?

The fun continues. ;-)

Uncomfortable that seems to me this cling wrap. Hopefully the Acitrecin works and you can get rid of the cling wrap.

btw you write:

But that is certainly not as it is. Most of us despise Methotrexate because it is such a poison and almost everyone on the forum will try to keep you off it.
Basically only for Krissie it seems to work.
The problem with MTX is that (1) it's cheap (2) it's in the protocol. But don't do it, follow the advice of your oncologist.

Oh Kelly let's hope it works for you it's messy and awkward on your own but hopefully you will get clearer soon so you can start to feel better about yourself, which itself will help the psoriasis.

Sadly I'm to far away or I would offer to help Angel

Good luck with it Kelly, I think it's a wise decision. You could always try the natural approach once you get it down.

Re the cling film, I knew someone that used to wear a Sauna Suit after slapping on loads of cream. Maybe worth investigating.

No side effects yet to report. No change in psoriasis but Dr say it will take six weeks.

I retract my comment about no side effects I've noticed I'm constantly thirsty have dry eyes and lips and read in the literature that these in fact are side effects
