Legally, I wouldn't do so. Not worth the risk - there is a drug (phase III) that uses DMF as the active ingredient. Back to the subject, she is going to have a hard time finding anyone willing to subscribe any systematic treatment due to her previous cancer problems. I'd recommend finding a dermatologist who is a psoriasis specialist.

Long term use steroid cream over large portions of body may cause problems. How much and when is a doctor question.

Matari, that can only be tecfidera which has an other purpose and is 40 times more expensive as fumaderm.

Yes it probably is and yes it will be probably 40 times more expensive than Fumaderm (though we don't know that yet) but the point is about What is available in the USA. Telling people something is better is great, but if it's not available then it's of no use to them. Tongue

I am sure I have read of US residents obtaining DMF preparations via prescription legally, and I got this from a 2005 BJD publication, although it contrasts with Jim's therapy. Perhaps there is more confidence in the safety of DMF these days.

<Although there has been no evidence of an increased risk of malignancy in patients receiving FAE therapy for psoriasis, current guidelines advise against treatment of patients with malignant diseases or a history of malignancy.>

Cheers,

Bill

There is no drug, XP23829, that uses a DMF derivative that is currently in trials for psoriasis. I wouldn't take the risk an important DMF, that's just my opinion.

I really think you should find a dermatologist that specializes in psoriasis. I'm not sure what risk systemic treatment poses (not a doctor) for your cancer. I'm sure that a psoriasis specialist may be better suited to handle your case.

And i think that additionally even a reumatologist or your own doctor that treated you for your cancer could be involved. This because psoriasis is an immune disease. Therefore your approach attacking it by means of your food is quite a good way as you are removing elements that trigger your immune system.

The team approach is probably the best way. However, it not utilized much here (various reasons). You have to spend time finding the doctors willing to do so.
