If this is getting worse I will need to stop taking acitretine. I see that hair loss is fairly common with acitretin users since it is a normal sign of Vitamin A intoxication. Anyone here with the same experience?

For me personally, it's hard to say. I'm in my 50's so I had noticed an increase of hair in my brush and my hair isn't as thick as it once was, but then I'm not as young as I once was either Confused . It may have increased slightly while on Acitretin but not significantly.

Thanks for sharing.

I will keep an eye on my patches. It's the very first time I see anything like this happening to me in my life so I suppose it's the acitretin but it might be simply stress.

kh924, Kelly also mentioned hair loss, and several others did.

So I have ended my first 30-day cicle with acitretin and after consulting with the dermatologist I have decided to stop because hair loss is worsening :(  We will wait another 30 days and then see if it is worth it to begin another cicle. Dovobet is still working and I am positive that spring will help improving the condition, particularly on the back and legs.

It will be interesting how quick the hair loss subsides. The problem will then be do you go back on it and risk it happening again just as it's starting to thicken up again. Difficult decision.

Good luck.

Spring is a good healer of many things. Cool

Such a shame you have had to drop the Acitretin. I have more than a strong feeling that the hair loss would probably return if you were to restart. But you will only know if you do restart. Like Fred said its a difficult decision. Its good that the Dovobet is working, just remember you shouldn't really use this stuff long term as it can cause skin thinning.

Like others I agree it's a shame your hair is thinning enough so you need to stop acitretin
But there are other treatments you could consider if you are uncomfortable going back to acitretin
I hope the hair soon thickens up and you can start looking at your options

So glad Spring is here!!

Sorry to hear you had to come off the Acitretin. Hopefully they can find something else that works for you without the side effects you experienced as it would be hard to start it back up again and then have the same results I would think.
