Not so nice now Caroline. A car turned in front of me. The driver didn't see me. I did not have time to stop, hit the front of the car, snapping the front forks, and went over the bonnet. Bruised and sore, but no broken bones (will get an x-ray and ultrasound on Monday). Taking next week off as I don't want to hobble at work. I will ride with steel forks in future. Cheers

Take care !

Thank you Caroline. I was wearing yellow so I would have looked like a giant banana coming down the street. The place he was turning into had cctv, so I might get some footage if I am lucky.

Good to hear you are ok after the crash Bill, hope the X ray will show now further damage
Looks like the bike came off worse than you hope you can get it repaired or replaced by the cars insurance company

Thanks Jim. My doctor wanted to rule out a blood clot in my calf muscle, but I am quite sure it is just a bruise. I got the bike very cheaply on eBay a year ago, so it is no big deal. I go down some steep hills and would have suffered far worse injury had the forks failed there, so I think myself fortunate to learn how weak carbon forks are and wont ride a bike with them again. I will be interested to see what the police find. Cheers

Blimey Bill that was a lucky one, I hope you don't have any serious problems.
Could be worth getting the forks checked, surely they shouldn't break like that ?

Wow Bill!!! So pleased you are ok and no broken bones!!
I literally can't believe how many people in cars/vans who don't look out for people on bikes/motorbikes - quite shocking really. Hope you will be on the mend soon, I bet you are aching a bit!

Thanks Fred. I wasn't happy with the way the forks failed. I will stick with steel in future.
Hi Woolley. A sore neck, bruised foot and injured calf muscle, but no breaks I would think. I wont be riding again without a strong strobing light. Cheers |
