Millions of Americans already take unregulated medications. Those drugs are known as generics, and are relatively cheap compared to their non-generic counterparts. Generics drug manufacturers often add ingredients that are not found in the name brand version. Many people have died because of reactions to additional ingredients, and the supreme court ruled that cheap drugs are worth more than the lives of people who take them. Also, note that these drugs have a target dose range of 80% to 125% of what the actual dose should be. For example, a bottle of NSAIDs may work wonders one month, but the next it might not help at all.

Honestly, the cost of Stelara is primary based of fair market value and overall cost of the development and maintaining of the drug. Stringent trials required for approval in many countries adds to the overall cost of the development. As long as there are several other drugs on the market for psoriasis, the price of Stelara is unlikely to suddenly spike in cost. It’s also important to note that there is a lot of risk involved with drugs that manipulate someone’s immune system. Typically, with high risk investments, the investors expects high profit if they investment succeeds.

This long winded post has one point; some regulation is needed to keep drugs safe, but some common sense may reduce the cost for everyone.

Another topic that is controversial; Many people have accused pharma of using founds received from treating people chronic illnesses to indirectly subsidize drugs for non chronic illness. Basically, they overcharge for drugs for people with chronic illnesses (we have little choice) so that they can found development of drugs for non chronic conditions.

Agreeing with you.
Because now we have to believe them on their blue eyes, while Richard Snowdon has shown us that one must be careful if you trust large corporations. And not only his revelations but also the crisis with the bank shows us that behind the scenes all kinds of things are going on.
Current problem is that large companies have much help from protection, Monsanto even has his own law so that it cannot be sued... That kind of things make me very uncomfortable...

The problem comes when government regulates for revenue. That's why a bit of common sense is needed

No contest over methotrexate I used to dread Mondays and having to take 10 at a time

When I took MTX I felt really sick, the feeling that my body was attacked/poisoned. Indeed that became a mental barrier taking them. I could, at a certain point, not allow this stuff anymore in my body.

That's comforting to know. thanks

That's very interesting the three of us that's me, Fred, and Caroline all struggled with Methotrexate, I note that all of us found it good for our psoriasis, but found the unpleasant side effect of making us feel sick led us all to dread the once a week we had to take them to the extent we all changed to other treatments, had the side effects been less and if they would prescribe a larger dose tablet instead of having to take 10 at a time, I may have kept on it.
However I am glad I changed to Fumaderm it is really good for my psoriasis

Jim if you search you will find a lot of posts from members who have tried Methotrexate, some like it and some don't.

Personally I wouldn't take it again if the paid me, some say the injections aren't so bad, but it's an evil drug in my opinion. Scare

Besides my legs MTX did clear much of anything. Granted, I wasn't on it long before couldn't take it anymore. By the time I stopped taking it, my psoriasis on my legs was slowly comming back
