Hello!

I'm curious as to how people with psoriasis of the nails are coping.

I have had various toenails implicated, and they've been everything from a little yuck and clearing up after a few months to huge and gross and long lasting.  At the minute I only have two toenails acting up, one where I ended up cutting the entire nail off and the other is a bigtoenail that refuses to be trimed filed or removed.

The treatment for my arthritis (mtx/humira) has mostly cleared up any skin psoriasis but the nails have no interest in behaving themselves.

How do you deal with the nail issues?

Nails always seems to be the hardest part to get clearance with. My toenails are worse than my fingers, and I have even had some almost come off from the bed completely. I found they did get better with the use of the Biological treatments, but I still have a few problems.

I have found soaking my feet for an hour in warm water with some shower gel helps soften them up and I try to do this at least once a month, along with a good trim up off the nails. (Always cut them straight across to reduce the chance of ingrown toenails), I also put the plug in for my daily shower so my toes get a good soaking.

But apart from that I've never found anything myself that helps. I too would be interested in what others think.

Another curious thing I noticed the other morning, on the toe where the psoriasis cleared up, the shape of the nail itself has changed. How odd that it has been remodelled into a better shape Smile
