Given that the immune system gets a bit haywire with uncontrolled p and psa, and given periodontal disease results from an interaction of biofilm and the immune system, a relation is not unreasonable. But it could be that all the bother simply distracts people from brushing and flossing. Truck driving is notoriously harsh on dental health.
