It's prolonged use that causes the thinning which is why I say dont use it for too long, if it doesn't clear after a few weeks, ask for a referral to a dermatologist who can give you other treatments ( GP s are limited to what they can prescribe )
Betnovate is a strong steroid ointment much the same side effects as are listed for Dovabet which you can read about here Dovobet And Dovonex (What's the difference ?)
