If "zero risk" equates to "safe" then it is a trivial definition. There are two aspects of safety: Relative safety and safe prescribing parameters. Provided I stay within set boundaries there is no evidence that DMF will harm me. With Mtx I could pass all the tests and be prescribed the drug, yet die from complications within a few weeks after a very small dose. With DMF I would have to go without the boundaries and stay without them for several months, and even if I were to do this the risk to me would be small.
