Hi again Mike I have a bit more time now so can wish you a proper welcome to the club.
We are very lucky to have this platform to discuss our disease
Fred has been good enough to set this site up and fund it single handed, he tells us he will never ask or accept help with the funding, we have very few rules here most of them are common sense and a few are to keep the site safe from spammers, trolls and Internet bullying.....which he works at tirelessly
He has put together a tremendous library about the disease and the treatments available, along with the latest news about future treatments and the outcome of trials...which is supplemented by members own experiences which they are happy to share, and discuss together
You will find we have an active off topic section which you will be made to feel welcome if you choose to join in any of the threads there or even if you just want a chat in the chatting thread [Group Specific]
Onto what I would do if I were in your shoes .....
I would speak to the dermatologist that you are under and tell him that the creams are ineffective and you have read that they are meant for short term treatment, he should offer possibly UV treatment which can be effective, I used to have it for many years with great effect, the effects if successful can vary, I used to arrange to have mine in the spring, by the end of the treatment I could keep clear with the sun in the summer,
The other option may be methotrexateMethotrexate or acetretin Acitretin which will both probably work and clear your skin, if the side effects aren't to severe for you
I wish you good luck and hope you will enjoy being a member of the club
Jim
