We have some other East Anglia members, I was one but now living in France.
Sorry can't help with the shaving, I've had a beard since I was about 20. But you could try the following.
Coconut Oil: I'm a big fan of coconut oil as it is natural and won't hurt your skin, there is a thread about it here: Coconut Oil
Dexeryl: Not sure if you can get it in the UK, I can get it on prescription and it's very gentle and can be used on babies.
Other prescribed creams that could help and I have used on my face Silkis & Dovonex. *But please check with a professional first, and DONT use Dovobet on your face.
