I love your story it made me smile, I think it's a statement rather than a question, but I'll tell you my thoughts for what they're worth
I have to admit I love a long soak in a bath but I can't stand it too hot, and I don't do it too often as I don't want to remove all the natural oils in the skin, I wouldn't take my iPad in with me for fear of dozing off and dropping it
I shower every morning but never stay long just long enough to wash thoroughly. I use ordinary shower gel nothing special,and have never noticed it affecting my psoriasis
I agree with your wife that extemely hot water can't be good for your skin, but if you can't see it has affected your skin, then I would continue, just be careful not to burn your toes turning the tap on with them
