Had a bout of above disgusting disease in 1993 till 1997 which inexplicably disappeared when my son was born only for it suddenly to return in all its glory last year. Im 58 yrs old, been taking acetretin this time round and its been a miracle drug, at least on the outside, i can walk (though not as far as i could when i didnt have ppp) and use my hands fairly normally. Thats such a blessing, but i still feel like a monster. How i envy those who can take all this in their stride. Side effects are many but mostly light and livable with. Anyone else hate with a vengeance bloody zipzok. So...i dread if i ever have to come off the medication. Hoping for another remission but dont know why it happened in the first place. Anyway this is me. Just wanted to introduce myself xxx
Hello Denise and thanks for finding us to the forum, you have found a good place to discuss the ups and downs of the disease. I can relate to the feeling of disgust and self pity at having this awful disease, but here you will find a great bunch of sufferers who deal with it in different ways, I find it good to come here and mingle and chat with other sufferers, it's nice to be part of a community that knows about the psychological side as well as the visible side of the disease and how it affects us,
I hope you get as much from the club as I do, .....by coming here regularly as I do it shows you that you are not the only one with the disease and you certainly will never be alone for long on here, also you will never be bothered by spam, bullying, advertising or any internet nasties. We are just sufferers sharing experiences which I believe is unique.
I have not had PPP and have been a sufferer with plaque psoriasis all my adult life and I'm a lot older than you ( OK 10 years if I don't tell you someone will) it has only been since I got onto my Fumaderm tablets over three years ago that I have had any length of time clear.
If you do ever have to come off the Acetretin there are now many more drugs in the armoury of the dermatologist which will have as good if not better effect on your psoriasis....
So enjoy yourself on the club, come and chat anytime, there is a lively off topic board with lots of things to join in with if you want or just read and have a chuckle at, there is chatting thread and you are more than welcome to jump in we all welcome newcomers with open arms
Any questions just ask someone will have an answer
