No, I don't think it's normal what you are experiencing. But I certainly can imagine your emotions on starting with the MTX. I was myself hesitant also, and finally could not keep up with it.
The only thing you can do is relax. Take a cup of tea, read something not to concentrating, make a walk in the sun (if it shines at your side of Europe). For the time being try to put your emotions next to you, maybe write them down on a piece of paper or on your iPad. If written down, you can leave them, you won't have to fear that you forget them, so you can put them in a box, like all those guys do, and stop thinking about it for a while.
Later on you can just feel how your body reacts to the MTX, that will take some time.
Don't worry to overreact to us, we know what you are going through.
