I was going to bring up h pylori, they used to think all stomach ulcers were caused by stress, lifestyle etc. and they could only help long term by cutting the amount of stomach acid produced (vagotomy/partial vagotomy) or antacids.
Then they discovered h pylori. It is also the cause of some stomach cancers though it's a bacterial infection, not viral as causes some cervical cancers.
To the comment that psoriasis can't be viral or bacterial because everyone around us would be infected - not all viral or bacterial infections are that easy to catch, we haven't all got h pylori for example (it's in about half the population, and doesn't always cause problems) though it's been around for ages.
Could it be that psoriasis is caused by something we have caught, but they just haven't discovered what yet?
