Hello Catherine!
I was going to write a lot of philosophical ponderings and wise words but I'm pretty rubbish at all that so I thought I'd concentrate on the dress issue.
You can wear a dress if you want to! Think leggings or opaque tights for your legs and a little bolero jacket/cardigan for your arms. Or a dress with full or 3/4 length sleeves. And as I have said before one of the best things about winter is woolly tights (although Fred says he can't wear them as they make his legs itch!), pair them with a cheeky denium/cord mini skirt and boots.
If I have to wear more transparent tights I just put a dab of foundation on my psoriasis to tone it down. In truth no body is interested in looking at my legs but I use the foundation on my leg spots for my own confidence - it works for me.
You are young and beautiful and have a caring boyfriend, and you have just joined the most helpful forum on the planet! Things can only get better
