I don't think people eat enough fruit, I know I don't. I also found, if you keep your feet warm, you're less likely to get a cold. I forgot this last week and got a cold. I also burned my throat with hot coffee and left myself defenseless against cold germs. The cold started with a sore throat.
It's interesting you mention calcium. I just posted some info on Caroline's thread "Is psoriasis a viral problem". See her post on...this thread... RE: Is psoriasis a viral problem
Thanks again! Interesting post.
As far as I know an extra tip.
A cold is also a virus.
This normally reaches you via your lungs.
The road to your lungs is passing through your throat, the trachea. In your throat are a lot of little hairs. In most cases these hairs are able to catch most of the viruses that are coming in and get rid of them before you can be getting contaminated.
In the cold, these hairs become less flexible and work less good, so viruses may come through much more easily.
This leads to the conclusion that it makes sense to wear a scarf or shawl in the cold in order to keep your throat warm and the hairs flexible.
If it works.... I don't know, but is certainly has a placebo effect.
