Thanks all for your kind welcome - having looked at the images - a few of them do look familiar it is only mild at the minute they are only small but they are bright red with what i thought was just dry skin enclosed but the main one has been there for a good few weeks and i have other smaller ones further down my legs , i think i definitely need to get hold of my gp and get her to refer me - thank you for the tips i shall bear them in mind xx

You're welcome, yes demand that your GP gets you an appointment with a dermatologist. You have the right to ask for this and the sooner you get a full diagnoses the better as they can start treating you, it probably is psoriasis but it's always best to get a professional confirm that.

Please do keep us informed even if it's not psoriasis as you input could help others, should it turn out it is psoriasis then you're not alone there's a friendly bunch here always willing to offer help and support.
