That would be incorrect - as long as you have 1 full year of employment (full time) you can take up to 4 months of maternity leave and both parents qualify and it’s paid roughly around 2/3 (whats left after taxes). But after that you might have to return (depends on employer).

Sorry, on further reading I’m wrong, there’s no overall maternity leave rules, because it’s depends on the state where you live.

Yeah we're like a lot of little countries with each state having some control over certain things and then one large country where some things are for everyone. A bit confusing at times. I know there have been complaints in the news, usually over women who don't feel their employer has made arrangements if they need to pump at work but personally I don't know anyone who has had issues with leave and/or employers who won't work with them.
