Well Kelly, I hope that I do not offend you, that is certainly not my intention, but personally I do not believe in doctors that "believe".
The doctors I met on the subject of psoriasis were either stubborn (but handsome) and prescribed the wrong things, or on the other hand very knowledgeable on the subject with many years of practice in the treatment of psoriasis. They were no dermatologists, but doctors with much knowledge on the functioning of the energy system of the cells in our bodies where the real problem of psoriasis is situated.
But... Maybe important to know for you, they also prescribe a certain diet, where indeed the avoidance of sugar is part of, so you may well be going in the right direction.

P.s. I never take probiotics, the times that I did my whole intestines got on the run, or whatever you would call that in English.
