Thanks TL! I also wonder if it's a thicker needle or if I'm pushing it too hard, with the Cosentyx you pinched the skin but with the Taltz you just hold it there. I don't pinch the skin but perhaps I'm pushing it down too far, next injection I'll be more aware of that and see.
Fred, that's what the nurse suggested at the beginning. Since you can control it you can inject the medicine slower and she said it's much less of a problem with stinging, etc. But, I have a few issues that concern me with trying it. I have a difficult time explaining it, even to people who know me personally. I had a hand injury a few years back and although you can't tell there's an issue, the hand no longer works the same. It can be awkward when it comes to fine motor skills or certain angles. Now I have people who could inject me if it were to be a problem (which I feel certain self injecting with a syringe would be) but I prefer to be self sufficient on that. I don't mind the help but I don't want to rely on it.
The pain isn't awful or anything (I don't want to scare anyone off!) But I do think one should expect perhaps a bit of discomfort using the pen. And discomfort is probably the best word for it. But it's important to make sure it's not still cold. With the fast injection it WILL sting like crazy if you don't.
Another option (according to the directions) is to ice the area prior to injecting. I may have to give that a try in the future although I could see icing my leg, icing my stomach seems a bit weird.
