You can get bacterial infection with psoriasis although it's not something that often happens. If you keep the open sores clean and away from sources of bacteria you should be OK.
When I had the veins removed in my legs I got an infection which they say could have been caused by the psoriasis. It could be true as the flakes are dead skin after all But I wouldn't let it worry you to much, I have cleaned out my chickens, worked in the garden, serviced the car, Etc without any problems. Just be sensible if you get a cut or graze treat it with an antiseptic (I use Betadine) and make sure you have your Tetanus injections up to date.
Your chances of getting an infection are low, so don't let it worry you. On a side note if you do happen to get an infection and are prescribed antibiotics. you should notify your doctor if taking Biological treatments.
