To my knowledge, there is no other family member with psoriasis. However, there are three people who married into my husband's family (myself plus 2 others, none of us related) who have been diagnosed with either psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis. One is on Methotrexate and the other is on Humira. I found that a bit weird or interesting.
I also can't really remember what was going on when I first had psoriasis. It would have been around my mother's illness so it's possible it could have been stress, but I don't really remember.
Interesting comment Kat.
You or perhaps better your husband seem to be a Psoriasis magnet, you both attract people who get Psoriasis.
But anyway it would be interesting to find out how they got it, is it common in their family ? Or is it completely new?
Too bad that you cannot remember what was going on at the time you got it.
I am very sure that stress plays a role, but personally i think there is more going on and stress is the enhancer. And i suspect bacteria of different kinds to be the trigger or even cause.
I can remember from my Psoriasis “start” that absolutely was in a stressful time, but if I think of that time than e.g. I also know that in that time I have been bitten by one or more tics, and had at least twice an antibiotics treatment, just to be on the safe side. They always say that if you remove them within 24 hrs and have antibiotics in time, that then Lyme is not possible.
So after long years of thinking, I am gradually shifting to bacteria as one of the possible triggers.
Actually what I find weird is that the three of us all married into the family and none of us were related. Two people marry siblings and one marries the son of another sibling and all three then developed psoriasis. None of us had psoriasis until after marriage which makes it even more strange. Maybe people in my husband's family cause psoriasis??? (And for the record......No, I don't think that!!)
