I think Dermatologists have a difficult job, particularly with young skin and unfortunately they seem to have a protocol to follow which tends to start with topical creams of which the vitamin d derivatives like Dovonex (calcipotrol)is probably the safest (in my opinion ) then on to the steroid creams before systemic tablet treatments like Methotrexate, acetretin, Skilarence etc. Before going to biologicals
However saying all that if I was offered Stelara for a child of 13 I’m sure I would go with it as it’s relatively safe ( every drug has risks ) and Stelara I think is a good one that doesn’t scare me as much as some of the tablet ones
I suggest you keep reading here and asking questions
And go to see the dermatologist with some knowledge of what questions to ask
