I was told by my nhs derm that I could use 1% hydrocortisone on my face, which I did using a cotton bud to get it only on affected skin. I was very surprised because of all the skin thinning warnings but basically she said not to try any other steroid creams but 1% would be fine. Although steroid creams no longer really work on the rest of me, this did work for me.
But as I say, please don’t act on this without asking the derm, especially as he’s a minor. I hope he gets some relief soon.
I'm horrified to report that our first derm prescribed clobetasol for his face. The most potent steroid possible. We still use it very very sparingly occasionally as the second derm just gave us a bigger subscription. After discovering recently that this was terrible for him I went to our doctor and asked for something lighter and he gave us 2.5 hydrocortisone.
Again I am using this sparingly. The new derm just recommended stelara the first visit with out really looking at my sons skin. I now dont really trust that any of them really know what they are doing. We have an appointment next week with the derm but I just feel....
