I go back to my derm (nhs) after the 12 week loading period and if she doesn’t think it’s working I’ll get taken off it.
As to the painful injection - I find it’s ok in the stomach area, I did it once in the thigh and it was so painful, plus I got a reaction there which was hot and swollen for days, like a bad insect bite. But I haven’t had any reaction on the stomach area.
I am not getting approved for anything. They were covering my Stelara though. While the doctor's office and my insurance duke it out, Taltz has a program that will help me get it with a very reasonable copay. I am in the process of getting that now.
My last two injections have been rash/pain/reaction free. I leave the injection out for 45 minutes to an hour then inject about 4 inches or so on either side of the belly button. The thigh was the most painful. For days I was sore. The insect bite reaction is a good way to explain it but the size of the reaction was of a softball for me. Very uncomfortable. My derm told me to take Benadryl a day before my injections and day of to see if that helped and it has.
