Hello Eric to Psoriasis Club
First off well done for plucking up the courage to introduce yourself, it can be a bit difficult sometimes wondering if you will be made welcome. But by lurking around I'm sure as you stated in your post we are welcoming to genuine people with psoriasis.
Re Protopic: I don't know of any members that have used it, and what I know of it it's usually prescribed for Eczema hence the reason you may not have seen it mentioned on Psoriasis Club.
To be honest I don't think it's what you need as it's not designed for long term use, and you should avoid natural or artificial sunlight (sun lamps or tanning beds) whilst using it. And Sunshine is about the best treatment you can get for Psoriasis
Yes certainly go and see your dermatologist again especially now you have insurance, unfortunately you have left it a long while since your last visit and they will probably want to start all over again. But don't worry about it all is not lost, they will work with you to find what's best.
I would say do a bit more LURKING Reading and don't hesitate to ask on other's threads if you think it's something that may help, arm your self with as much information as possible, have a look at these threads as they will probably use them.
What is the PASI score my dermatologist uses ?
Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI)
I don't always recommend this, but it may help to leave the psoriasis alone and not treat it with anything for a few weeks before you go to your dermatologist. The worse it looks the more they will act
Good luck and keep us informed.
Regards.
Fred.
