For almost a month I went to the doctors office and they did not know what I had they prescribed me prednizone steriods. Then I had this old physicians assistant tell me I had psoriasis on November 4. I made an appointment with a dermatologist for November 16. Since finding out I have psoriasis I have done a lot of research online. I quit energy drinks, coffee, sugar, have been going to the tanning salon doing relight therapy bed. I am taking a probiotic, milk thistle, tumeric, fish oil, l-lysine, vit d3, lotion, dead sea salt. I have it on my arms, legs, and stomach. Right now it is worst on my arms. It is awful, and to know that there is no cure it is chronic. I saw online some people who had it, and wanted to kill themselves. I can understand why. I am trying to stay strong, and do everything I can. I do not want to take the prednizone or any steriods because it did not help very much, on some blogs people said it came back worse after they stopped using it. It helped mine a little bit but not enough then I did not know I had psoriasis just a rash. It is not worth it for me. I am trying other methods. I wish I lived near the Dead Sea and could soak in it, or that I lived by a beach. I live in Boise Idaho its getting colder by the day will snow soon. I am visiting my grandmother in Florida in December that should be nice for my psoriasis also.
Hi Grant and to the club as a new psoriasis sufferer it is a hard thing to get your head round, but you are right what you say there is no cure and you can spend a fortune on various things that are sold as "cures" but my advice is to ignore the horror stories and take the advice of your doctor and read on here of the prescribed treatments that are available Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis and read of real psoriasis sufferers experiences here. So when you see the dermatologist you can have a meaningful discussion with them about treatments.
You say you have read horror stories from sufferers about steroid creams and depression, but remember there are far more sufferers that have found a successful treatment to manage the disease....remember people come to forums usually because something doesn't work ....not many join and tell that the first treatment they tried worked ( some do and Alan on here did with his method) How I Cured My Psoriasis By Diet
I wish you luck in your quest for relief, and suggest you put your trust in your doctor
Good luck.....do keep us informed on your progress
