I've just been reading Caroline's thread explaining dmf, I found it very interesting, I remember studying the Krebs cycle as they called it at school. I was wondering, is the citric acid cycle pretty much what they are referring to when talking about your metabolism?
Also, there's a mention of purines, but I don't quite understand the context - would it be good to cut purine intake down at all?

I guess these questions are pretty much for Caroline if she knows the answers.. Blush Rolleyes Wave

Hi TL,
I cannot answer your question right away, I will have to do some questioning around in my network. I am no chemist nor a doctor, just trying to understand what it is all about when related to DMF and the metabolism and immune system.

What I understand form the citric acid cycle, this is the chemical cycle of reactions in the cell out of which the celt gets its energy and probably more. Is this called a metabolism?
I don't know, that is too high English for me.
But I would guess this is part of the metabolism, not all.

On purines I asked my doctor. He said that (1) it is not possible to just reduce your purines, it is too integrated in the cycle and (2) psoriasis is too complex, if it was as simple to just avoid something eating, that it would already mostly been solved.

It is already a miracle that by using DMF or a specific biological, the Psoriasis is greatly reduced. Still behind this there is a complex biochemical process.
