Hello Shabbaminion
![]() Understandable to feel miserable, it can have that effect on us. At least you have found us and I'm sure we can find a way to cheer you up a bit. I can recommend the [Group Specific] board for something to take your mind off things. Should you venture in there you will soon find I'm the only sensible one around here. Failing that we do have a very good bunch of members that are always happy to offer some support as and when needed, so just dive on in. Regards. Fred.

Hi Shabba and
![]() You don't say how long you have been on acetretin ? Is it recent or something you have been on for a while . If you have just started you need to give it a chance to work , or if you have been on a long time and it's starting to fail it might be time to call dermatology and explain its stopped Whatever it is you can talk on here with others and hopefully get some comfort from that Jim

Hi Shabbaminion
![]() As Fred as said it is very understandable you are feeling low the dreaded P can have a nasty habit of dragging its sufferers down. I notice you are on Acitretin and was wondering how long you have been on it and how it is treating you. Personally I have been on the stuff (currently 30mg) since April and have still got some side effects, peeling hands and feet and incredibly dry lips. Have a good rummage around the site, there is tons of information in, but don't be afraid to ask any questions you will get open and honest answers as most of us have Ps in all its forms and there is always somebody on a particular medication that can offer advice.

I've been on acitretin for 3 months I'm also on 30 mg dry lips don't bother me it's the headaches Im struggling with. I am covered at the moment with the tiniest of psoriasis with rhe quickest outbreak I have ever suffered. I'm really putting all my hope on acitretin thanks for the warm welcome.

I'm sure our acetretin gang will talk to you as I see John has already introduced himself, and as he says any questions don't hesitate to ask
We are all friendly here ![]() (Fri-26-08-2016, 20:12 PM)shabbaminion Wrote: I've been on acitretin for 3 months I'm also on 30 mg dry lips don't bother me it's the headaches Im struggling with. Unfortunately everything that helps alleviate the P also has side effects and Acitretin has its fair share. They do normally subside or so I'm told. Its real downer though is how long it takes to start to work so you need to give it a fair run. If you can, hold out. Like I said I've been onof taking Acitretin I it since April and it is only showing real results now. Edit Forgot to add, many do have flare ups in the early stages.

Ye I've been reading about side effects all I can say is they are not as bad as the immunosuppressive drugs I've been on in the past svd I've been on the lot.. this break out looks so different to what I'm used to and I self presented myself to my dermo clinic thinking it was the drug they said it wasn't but the more I read up it does state that a rash is rare. I will check out the other threads bit now I must get up sort this skin out.

I don't know much about acetretin and how it affects psoriasis but there is a helpful thread here that Fred posted a long time ago about the different types of psoriasis and might help you decide if is one of those see Types Of Psoriasis Explained

Hi Shabba , welcome to the club.
I have been on acitretin and I had quite a few side effects including dry skin and lips plus it caused ingrowing nails and never did anything for me but what works for one does not necessarily work for another and that's the same for the side effects. I am ,like Fred, am on Stelara and that is fantastic with 99% clearance . Take care and welcome have a good look around and ask questions because they will alweys be answered truthfully by people who have the problem . |
