Just seen a link on the npf Twitter page showing that obesity and severity of psoriasis are connected and it recommended weight loss. I've never heard this before, and to be honest seems a load of rubbish to me, but would be interested to hear your thoughts on it.

Just had a look at that and I tend to agree with you that it was a load of rubbish, it was a small study of only 300 participants. I shan't be rushing to lose weight . My weight has been up and down over the years and have never noticed any relationship between my psoriasis and diet,
They're next tweet says more than a glass of red wine is bad for you, if that's the case I should be be smothered in scales

People who are overweight typically have higher inflammitory markers.... But this is a scheme to try to reduce health care cost... Anything that delays treatment saves money.

It is for me  Big Grin

The problem is if you have to much it's the calories that will make you put weight on, my doctor always recommends a couple of glasses of red a day. I even got given it in hospital once.  Smile

I have heard the connection made between weight and psoriasis before, I love the simple 'solution' of losing weight, as though people have chosen to be overweight but if they are told it'll help their skin, they'll just lose weight no probs.

Before I was fat, I was a gym rat. Even got my body fat to approximately 4%. Guess what? I still had severe psoriasis... Anything that reduces stress is going to help with psoriasis. However, there is no long term data that shows a posative correlation between losing weight and keeping the P off. Most people relapse in 6 to 12 months.
