Can psoriasis spread to your eyes? Currently have psoriasis in then lashes of my right upper eye lid. It is very flakey and sore. In the 23 years that I have had psoriasis I have never had it that close to my eye.

I'm Sorry Sarah I can't help with that it's never got right across my forehead to my eyes, I've had it beside my nose and in my eyebrows
I hope you can clear that away soon as it must be uncomfortable for you, and of course it's a difficult area and best not to use creams
Im sure someone will have some good advice for you

Hello Sarah good to see you again, I'm like Jim can't help but I see Grizzly has posted so all I would add is whatever you use be careful and don't go using anything like Dovobet etc.  NoNo

Maybe my old favourite Coconut Oil could help.

Here are a couple of photos Ky

Here is something from your home state Ky........... grandpas-pine-tar

I bought a bar of this from some rip off merchant in my country & it appears to be working.

Give it a try Ky, you have nothing to lose, except a couple of dollars.

Here in England, the Grandpa's soap (1.25oz) is treble the price to what you guys & gals have to pay for it !!!

As Freddy says, coconut oil too aswell........Biona-Organic-Raw-Virgin-Coconut

Hope this helps in some way Ky ?

Happy scratching

I found a couple of different problems with the eye and psoriasis. This seems the closest.

"Ocular psoriasis can cause inflammation of the eye, dryness and discomfort. When psoriasis affects the eyelids, scales may cover lashes. The edges of the eyelids may become red and crusty. If inflamed for long periods, the rims of the lids may turn up or down. If the rim turns down, lashes can rub against the eyeball and cause irritation. In a prolonged ocular episode vision impairment may occur. Ocular symptoms may occur in approximately 10% of psoriasis patients."

You could do a search to find more information. I didn't know there was "ocular psoriasis" so learn something new each day.

I would be careful with any topical that is close to the eye. Hope you get it cleared up soon!

Grizzly Bear- Thank you for the help. I will look into Bio oil and grandpas pine tar.

Jim- Thank you.

Fred- Thank you. I have use coconut oil before on my psoriasis. Just irritated my spots. I am on triamcinolone acetonide ointment 0.1% for my stubborn spots on neck and behind ears. I will not use it on my eyelids. I have put some Vaseline on my eyelids and corners of my eyes tonight. Hope it will offer a little relief.

Kat- Thank you. I didn't know there was ocular psoriasis. I think I will search it and read up on it.

My next appointment with my dermatologist is later this month. So I will talk to her about it then, but if it get worse I will try and get in sooner.

Probably not much help, but I did find this archive from The International Society of Dermatology.

Quote:
Background:
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting skin, nails, and joints. Although there are not many reports in the literature, ocular findings occur in approximately 10% of patients, in mostly those who have psoriatic arthritis. In this study, we aimed to evaluate eye involvement in psoriasis patients.

Methods:
This study was performed on a total of 100 psoriasis patients and a group of 100 healthy individuals. History was taken from all study and control subjects, and dermatological, systemic, and ophthalmological examinations were performed and Schirmer and BUT values were measured. Constant variables were compared using the t-test, and categorical variables were compared using chi-square test. Relationship between ocular findings and sex, age, duration of psoriasis, PASI score, presence of psoriatic plaques on the eyelid, nail involvement, and psoriatic arthritis was evaluated using logistic regression analysis. Statistical analyses were performed individually for both right and left eyes.

Results:
The number of ocular findings in both eyes in the patient group was found to be statistically higher than that in the control group. Schirmer and BUT values were statistically lower in the patient group than those in the control group.

Conclusions:
Although results of our study support the necessity of routine ophthalmological examination of psoriasis patients for early diagnosis and treatment, we believe that further studies are required on the etiopathogenesis of ocular involvement in psoriasis patients.

As for treating it, hopefully your dermatologist will have something.

Please do keep us updated as this could help others in the future.
