Hello every one. I am new to the forum group. Does anybody else break out really bad from the sun with Psoriasis? I have been told that it gets better in the summer. Why do I get worse in the sun? I have 2 family members say the heat helps there psoriasis. I have been told that it is psoriasis. But why would I break out worse. My wedding in July was outside and my arms look terrible in my pictures. thank you karen

Hello Karen,
Welcome on the forum.

My experience is that when I stay for a longer time in a warm, dry and sunny environment, it is getting better with me.
That is why many of my holidays are aimed at the Provence in France.

Hello Karen and Welcome

I've heard some people say it does get worse. I find the sun does help me, though I must admit if I get hot and sweaty it tends to start itching.

Maybe it's to do with gradually getting the sun. If you go for a huge amount of sun in one go like on your holiday, then you could be damaging the outer layer of your skin, and damaged skin can turn to psoriasis.

Welcome

Yes, my skin suffers in the sun, more so if I get to much exposure causing my skin. To burn or if skin that is covered gets to hot and sticky which causes me to scratch and itch a lot!

15 mins is the advised exposed length of time, and if you react in the sun I would suggest avoiding exposure when the sun is at its strongest and catch it before or after!

I find my skin does better in winter because it's cooler and cools my skin down instead of adding to heat that comes off o it already.
