How quickly can PPP react to stress?

Hello there everybody. My PPP has been a lot better since PUVA, which finished about two months ago It has cleared from my hands and my feet have been a lot more comfortable.

Alas, I got a very stressful long phone call last evening. I have been trying my best not to over-react to it and keep calm all day. I don't really want to put this in writing, in case it makes it "real", but I think that PPP is maybe beginning to reappear on my left foot. Can PPP really react this quickly? If it can, it's a real warning.

Hello Susie, good to see you again.

I don't have PPP myself, but I have found that stress or bad news can make me have a flare up. not only psoriasis but also psoriatic arthritis, and usually very quick. I can remember getting some bad news one day and a flare up started almost immediately.

But you always have to try to look on the positive side to help compensate. So it's great that the PUVA has been working for you.

And thank you for being here too, who knows one day you may be able to help others. In fact you probably already have by sharing this post. There you go another positive!

In my own experience, but I don't have PPP, the reaction to stress is not detectable.
Of course this might be due to my medication, but I cannot remember it from before either. In that time stress did have influence but slowly.
What seemed apparent was that there was a little predictability in my AP regarding the weather. E.g. while the weather was still beautiful my fingers and feet might become painful, and a few days later the weather then changed into a more rainy style.
Also being in warm dry environments, like the south of France (but not the seaside), really enlightened the pain then.

Avoiding stress is always better, but not always possible.

As a PPP person myself I'm with Fred on this one - I reckon it's definitely possible and from personal experience I know mine can change from day to day.

I believe stress is my main trigger although I've always been told there is no proof of this but must just be a huge coincidence that I have flare ups when I'm under pressure

My doctor still has me on topical treatments as my last and current flare up only started in September last year ( after 11 years totally clear) - I have asked for a dermatology referral but he's said it's not appropriate yet.

I hope your feet didn't worsen too much and that the PUVA soon had you back on track.

Sorry I couldn't offer any advice - I always find I'm unable to do the positve thinking stuff and end up in more of a state- hope somethng worked for you.
