My first experience was I developed plaques on both elbows very quickly, and my arms wouldn’t straighten, it was very sore and I felt miserable. It must have been the stress of going away to uni.
The first doctor I showed gave me treatment for scabies - I felt really horrible and a bit disgusted about that idea but I think they just thought ‘well, she’s a student’. I accepted the diagnosis and took home some kind of ointment.
The treatment stung and burned and made the situation a whole lot worse.
Thankfully the next doc got it right, and the steroid cream completely worked, I had remission for years and thought nothing more of it.
I don’t remember that doc actually naming it as psoriasis though, but I might have just forgotten.. even if they had I didn’t go away and look it up so I was still none the wiser at that point.
